AT&T
The Sunshine Solves team was contracted to execute a high-performance technology rollout for AT&T storefronts. This project centered on creating a “Store of the Future” experience, where the network must support simultaneous 5G demonstrations, cloud-based POS transactions, and 4K security streaming. Our team managed the installation of heavy-duty IDF (Intermediate Distribution Frame) racks, intelligent PoE (Power over Ethernet) lighting, and a synchronized security ecosystem that protects high-value mobile inventory.
Project Challenges
RF (Radio Frequency) Management: Managing a retail floor saturated with active 5G and LTE signals from demo devices, which can create significant “noise” for internal Wi-Fi and wireless POS systems.
High-Value Asset Protection: Securing “live” inventory (latest smartphones and tablets) that must remain powered and connected to the network while being physically tethered and monitored by cameras.
Complex Network Topology: Coordinating with AT&T’s global IT department to ensure local hardware configurations met strict corporate firewall and encryption protocols.
Rapid Tech Lifecycle: Installing hardware that must be easily “swappable” as AT&T frequently updates their floor models and promotional digital signage.
Project Solution
Shielded Cabling & RF Hardening: Deployed CAT6A STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) cabling and specialized interference-resistant access points to ensure the store’s internal data remained stable despite the high density of cellular signals.
AI-Driven Loss Prevention: Installed advanced IP Security Cameras equipped with heat-mapping and “object-left-behind” analytics to help managers track customer flow and identify high-risk areas in real-time.
Centralized Rack Management: Built a standardized, ventilated server cabinet with UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) backups, ensuring that even during a local power surge, the store’s security and payment systems remain online.
Automated Digital Signage Integration: Configured a dedicated VLAN for high-definition “Media Walls,” allowing corporate headquarters to push 4K promotional content to the store’s screens without slowing down the POS registers.
Smart-Tether Synergy: Integrated the physical security tethers on the floor with the network monitoring system, so an alarm triggers both a localized sound and a specific “event-marker” on the security camera footage for immediate review.
